Youth Activities

  • The college achieves academic excellence with equal emphasis laid on Co-curricular activities. The potential talents of the students are well harnessed by the different clubs under the able guidance of the faculty.
  • Fresher Day, Cultural Day, Ethnic Day and Annual Day are celebrated to identify and encourage the manifold talent among the students. Literary competitions like debates and essay-writing are also held.
  • Inter-College annual academic fest (FeATS) will be organized in order to promote motivate students in their academic areas.
  • Inter – Class competitions are organized to identify talented students in the field of academic, cultural and sports activities.
  • Workshops on Music, Dance, Drama, Painting etc. are organized in the college during under the direction and guidance of experts in the respective fields.
  • Annual Youth Day is celebrated in our College premises by the students under the able guidance of MES Kalavedi.
  • The Seminars and lectures by eminent scholars organized in the college widen the exposure of our students, beyond the walls of the classrooms. MES Science Centre provides due assistance in this regard.
  • National festivals are celebrated with the hoisting of National flag and arranging patriotic programmes. It helps our students to cherish and follow the noble ideals that inspired our struggle for freedom.
  • ‘Mandara’ Annual magazine of the college documents the vibrant activities of the college. It provides an opportunity for the students to show-case these creative and literary talents and abilities.

Sports

  • The college provides equal prominence to sports activities which are required for overall physical and intellectual development of the students. The college boasts of producing many achievers in the field of sports. Students are encouraged and provided with ample opportunities to excel in their sphere of sports and games both indoor and outdoor. The college has many representations by our students at State, National and International level competitions and vouches for the same.
  • We provide opportunities to our students to choose the sports of their interest and make teams accordingly and provide them proper guidance by excellent sports trainers during the morning and evening time. Every year our college teams have been participating at Inter-collegiate, District, State, National and International level competitions and have been winning prizes.
  • In addition, there are also Sports Day celebrations where we hold Intra-college competitions. Our students participate in the PU sports meet held every year for athletics which in turn leads to State and National level meets.
  • Interclass competitions are conducted to identify talented players to take part in Inter-collegiate, District, State and National level competitions.

NCC

  • 1 KAR ARMD SQN NCC MES COLLEGE TROOP
  • 1 MYSORE ARMD SQN NCC was raised on 12th June 1962 and was later re-designed as 21st MYSORE ARMD SQN NCC December 1962, and further 21st MYSORE ARMD SQN NCC was re-designed as 1 KAR ARMD SQN NCC on 1st November 1974. Presently 1 KAR ARMD SQN NCC MES COLLEGE TROOP is headed by Associated NCC Officer Captain Arun kumar.P from Department of Economics. The MES College has 1 troop with authorised strength of 52 Senior Division Cadets.


ACTIVITIES OF NATIONAL CADET CORPS
1. Institutional Training.
Institutional training conducted at Colleges and Schools is the mainstay of NCC training and is conducted by Associate NCC Officers and Armed Forces personnel. The syllabus comprises Common Subjects and Service Subjects While the Senior Wing/Division training is for three years and has 300 periods (18 parades) per year. The Maximum number of cadets Emphasis is on practical training.

2. Camp Training.
Camp training is the practical manifestation of institutional training. The basic aim of Camps is to introduce cadets to a regimented way of life and helps in developing camaraderie, team work, leadership qualities, self-confidence, self-reliance and dignity of labour in the cadets. The cadets are exposed to the excitement of camp life where they apply the theoretical knowledge that they had gained in Institutional Training Annual Training Camps/ Combined Annual Training Camps (ATC/CATC). These are held within the State under the aegis of respective NCC Directorates.

5. Social Service and Community Development Activities.
Social Service activities are structured to inspire and encourage the cadets to participate voluntarily towards improvement of their physical and social environment and channelize their energies in the task of nation building. The social service and community development activities include Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Tree Plantation, Anti-Drug Rally, Cancer Awareness, Disaster Relief, Blood Donation, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, AIDS Awareness, Care for the Blind, Traffic Control and other similar relevant contemporary social issues.

6. Sports.
NCC facilitates access to high potential sports like Football, Hockey and Shooting to talented cadets so as to hone their team and sports skills. NCC teams regularly participate and excel in National level events like Subroto Cup Football, Nehru Cup Hockey and National Shooting.


CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS:

‘B’ CERTIFICATE
1. The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of total training periods laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years for Senior Division/Wing NCC (All Wings).
2. Must have attended one Annual Training Camp /NIC /COC / RDC / Attachment with Regular Army/Navy/Air Force.
‘C’ CERTIFICATE
1. The cadet must be in possession of Certificate B.
2. The cadet must be in third year of Senior Division/Senior Wing NCC Training.
3. The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of the periods of 3rd year syllabus during the academic session.
4. Must have attended one ATC and in addition one of the following in a three year tenure:-
Annual Training Camp (This is in addition to one mentioned above).
Republic Day Camp at Delhi (RDC).
Centrally Organized Camp (COC). Ordered by HQ DGNCC Para Training Camp (PTC)..

CADETS ACHIVEMENTS:
1. CSUO Prajwal.M, CSUO Anirudh Gururaj,
CSUO Vaishak Vijay, were commissioned in Armed forces.

2. CSUO Arun GK, CSUO Arun Bharadwaj BN attended Inter-Directorate Shooting Competition (IDSC).

INCENTIVES AND BENEFITS:
Apart from training and preparing the youth for future challenges in NCC, cadets are given various benefits in terms of job opportunities, scholarships and financial aid in time of any tragedy while doing any NCC related activities. These incentives are announced from time to time both by the Central and State Governments. These incentives are in the field of employment as well as academics and personal including medals, trophies, cash award etc. The best incentive being the vacancy reserved for ‘C’ certificate holders’ cadets for the commission as officer in the Indian Army.

Incentives By The Central Government
For ‘C’ Certificate Holders.
Specific vacancies in the Army, Air Force and Navy are allotted for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders. For officers there is no UPSC written exams. After application, the cadet is called directly for SSB interview, which he/she has to clear before final selection as per the merit list.
The following vacancies are reserved by each service as officers:-
a) Army-64 seats per year at IMA & 100 seats per year at OTA.
b) Navy-06 seats per course through Naval SSB.
c) Air Force-10% vacancies in all courses through Air Force.
d) 5-10% bonus marks for recruitment in Armed Forces. .
e) Can apply for gazetted post in CRPF if the cadet is graduate.
f) Preference in State Services and also in private sectors.
g) Employment within NCC as Whole Time Lady Officer, Girl Cadet Instructor, Aero and Ship Modelling Instructor.

Employment Concession:

Preference is given by various state governments to the NCC ‘B’/ ‘C’ certificate holders for Recruitment in following departments:-
• Police-Service.
• Transport-Department.
• Forest-Department.
• Excise-Department.
• Preference to the Girl Cadets as nurses, reception etc..

Academic Activities

  • MES PU College periodically organizes workshops, seminars, motivation programmes by experts in various areas of academics both for the students and staff to enhance their skills and to become better equipped to face the new challenges.
